WATER AI has been recognized by Utilities Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top AI-Powered Buildings Energy Savings Solutions in UK 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “Top Water Management Services In Europe,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Utilities Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Robert Zagozdzon, Founder and CEO.
Robert Zagozdzon, Founder and CEOMost buildings do not need new heating infrastructure to become substantially more energy efficient. Water AI combines artificial intelligence, predictive heating optimization and advanced water-side technology to reduce consumption and operating costs, improve comfort, and extend infrastructure life without expensive replacement projects or major disruption.
Founded by Robert Zagozdzon, Water AI has developed technology that learns how each building behaves. It analyzes historical performance, operating conditions, occupancy, weather and forecasts, and the building’s thermal characteristics to anticipate energy requirements and optimize heating proactively.
“Most buildings already have heating systems capable of much better performance. The challenge is often not the boiler itself, but the intelligence with which the system is managed,” says Robert Zagozdzon, Founder and CEO of Water AI.
From Reactive Control to Predictive Optimization
Traditional heating controls and many conventional BMS solutions rely on predefined parameters and react to measured conditions. Water AI adds a predictive intelligence layer that learns from the building and adjusts as conditions change. It refines energy delivery for each hotel, hospital, school, office or industrial facility to maintain the required conditions while avoiding unnecessary consumption.
WaterAI 4heat and SCAT
WaterAI 4heat provides the intelligent optimization layer, using AI and predictive control to determine how the heating system should operate based on actual and anticipated demand. SCAT complements it on the water side, supporting improved heat transfer and helping reduce corrosion, scaling and deterioration of heating components.
Together, the technologies improve both how intelligently energy is produced and distributed and how efficiently it is transferred through the installation. They can also help protect boilers, pumps, valves and heat exchangers, supporting longer equipment life and reducing unnecessary capital expenditure.
10–50 Percent Lower Heating Energy Consumption
Depending on the building’s condition, operating characteristics and optimization potential, Water AI solutions can reduce heating energy consumption by approximately 10– 50 percent. Crucially, these improvements can be achieved while retaining the core heating infrastructure, allowing owners to optimize assets that may still have years of useful life before considering replacement.
Hotel Premium Bratislava Case Study
A Water AI implementation at Hotel Premium in Bratislava demonstrates the potential. To ensure a meaningful comparison between heating seasons, performance was normalized using heating degree days and Typical Meteorological Year conditions.
For 12 March to 15 May 2026, the weather-normalized baseline indicated approximately 1,923 m³ of gas consumption for heating. After implementation, normalized consumption was approximately 988 m³. The resulting saving was about 936 m³, or a 48.6 percent reduction in heating energy consumption. The analysis used the same assumed indoor temperature of 23°C for both periods.
The result shows that savings can approach the upper end of Water AI’s 10–50 percent range without replacing the heating plant. The improvement came from operating existing infrastructure more intelligently.
Improving Buildings without Major Disruption
Water AI solutions are designed to work alongside existing infrastructure with minimal interference in normal operations. This is especially important for hospitals, hotels, schools, offices and industrial facilities that cannot suspend activity for extensive modernization. It also makes advanced optimization accessible to existing buildings where complete replacement would be financially or operationally unjustified.
Measurable Performance
For Water AI, artificial intelligence is valuable only when it produces measurable improvements. Performance is evaluated against a meaningful baseline and normalized for factors such as weather where appropriate. Customers can also benefit from more stable indoor temperatures, improved reliability and fewer interventions.
By combining predictive intelligence with water-side engineering, Water AI offers building owners a practical route to lower costs and emissions while protecting the infrastructure they already own.
